A 100 year old man from Abingdon received a birthday card from the Queen congratulating him on reaching the milestone age.
Keith Plummer has lived in Abingdon since 1958 and was delighted to receive a birthday card from the Queen for his 100th birthday. He celebrated with family and friends and enjoyed plenty of cake and presents.
The Father of four was born in London where he spent his childhood before perusing a career in Engineering. In the Second World War, at just 20 years old he joined the Royal and Mechanical Engineers before being sent to serve in India and Burma where he was commissioned as an officer.

After the war Keith returned to the UK and worked for the Atomic Energy Authority and then the Culham Laboratory in Oxford where he worked on the fore runners of the innovative JET project.
After he retired he became a Governor at John Mason School and continued a passion for gliding by building a new winch for the Oxford Gliding Club.
Now Keith enjoys visits from Home Instead Senior Care who help him stay in his own home and enjoy living in Abingdon. They even helped him celebrate his 100th birthday with his family.

His daughter Caroline, said: “We are all so proud of Dad, he has loved celebrating his big birthday! Having companionship visits from Home Instead has opened up his life, he is able to get out to the shops, have someone to support him to attend appointments and take him on adventures."
