A MAN was attacked outside his home and was left with serious head injuries including a fractured skull and swelling to the brain.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault in Chinnor at around 12.50am on Thursday July 30. The victim, a man in his thirties, was assaulted outside his home in Springfield Gardens in Chinnor.

The man was at home with a friend when they heard a vehicle outside. After going outside to investigate and ask them to leave he was approached by two men.

One of the men hit the victim, and the other assaulted the victim by hitting him over the head and knocking him to the ground. The two men and a woman then got back in the vehicle, a silver or grey hatchback, and left the scene.

The victim sustained serious head injuries including a fractured skull and swelling to the brain and is being treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Two men aged 24 and 30 from Chinnor and a woman aged 24 from Thame were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public space. They have since been released and are under investigation.

Investigating officer Craig Gibson from Abingdon police station said: “I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has any information relating to this incident to please get in touch.

“This is a quiet area at this time of night, so if you saw or heard anything suspicious, or have CCTV or dash-cam footage from the area at the time, please come forward.
